Any type of cooked or processed food is not recommended for Bearded dragons. These reptiles really love meat. But the cute face of the dragon is also vulnerable to malnutrition and over-feeding. Cooked or steamed or processed food lose a lot of their quality.

That is why, bearded dragons actually cannot eat cooked chicken.

Let me clear this thing first. Cooked or uncooked, chicken is not recommended for bearded dragons at any form. 

Where I live in, we have a literal community of people who own bearded dragons. We share, express all of the thoughts and information about beardies among ourselves. Many among them have tried to see the results what happens after their bearded dragons have eat chicken. And none of the experiences were positive.

As mentioned in some of the other contents in this website, it is important to maintain a perfect ratio of phosphorus and calcium for bearded dragons. On top of that, cooked food is never recommended for beardies. Even feeding mice to bearded dragons is recommended in the raw form, not cooked or steamed at all. Cooked Chicken itself is not a good thing to eat for Bearded dragons.

Bearded dragons cannot eat cooked chicken. The higher level of phosphorus in chicken might cause: 

  • Lack of appetite 
  • Weakness 
  • Constipation 
  • Swollen limbs 
  • Broken bones 
  • And other severe problems. 

Can bearded dragons eat cooked chicken as emergency food?

A small piece of chicken, little steamed and unseasoned, can be used as one of the emergency sources of food and protein. But never on a regular or constant basis. Chicken is not good for bearded dragons due to higher density of the minerals inside.

Can bearded dragons eat any other meat apart from chicken?

Bearded dragons can eat small pieces of steak, turkey, live feeder mice as a source of meat in their daily diet.


So, can bearded dragons eat cooked chicken? Chicken is never a safe food for a bearded dragon.
